Random Sunday

1)  Jonah has graduated at last to a Big Boy Bed this past week, and has not (yet) fallen out!

2)  This is the embroidery I completed on our road trip to PA and NY last month.  They will be framed in ribbon-wrapped embroidery hoops and hung over Lavella's bed.  All motifs are from Aimee Ray's "Doodle Stitching: the motif collection".

3)  A Buttercup Bag that I made over the weekend. This is the third time I've used this pattern, and finally this one is for me!

Yellow and Grey Buttercup Bag

My cell phone, a lipstick, and a cute pen (thank you Becca!) all fit perfectly in the inner pocket.  It's also exactly the right size to hold the Gathered Clutch I made a while back, so I'm using it as a wallet inside.  It coordinates as though I had planned it!

4)  Currently waiting for me in the studio...

At the sewing machine: current work in progress

5)  My favorite sandwich of the moment: Black Forest Ham, Avocado, Arugula and Cream Cheese on toasted homemade wheat bread (I added some alfalfa sprouts to this today too!).

I hope you've all had a wonderful weekend!!

I love your embroidery work and your bag! So cute! One of these days I will learn to sew. Aprons and bags are so fun to design yourself. And the sandwich does look delicious! I've been trying to get into avocados lately, and have been at a loss of what to do with them. I might have to try some on a sandwich like that.

Thanks Sara!  Well you've certainly got the Best Teacher Ever to learn sewing from.  :-)  Re: sandwiches -- I got the idea from our friend Josh B. who mashed avocados into cream cheese and served it layered with ham on pita triangles as tea sandwiches a few weeks ago.  So delicious!  Avocado-cream cheese is fabulous, but since my children don't like it, I just layer my avocado and cream cheese together so that I don't end up with a bowl of something in the fridge that no one is going to finish.
